Sooo, recently I quit working on my Instagram page to gather my thoughts and regain my focus about blogging. I started my page as a way to express myself and hopefully encourage others to find their individual fashion likes and dislikes and express themselves. My style is not for everyone, and that’s the part of fashion that I LOVE! Your style is your message to others that gives a little insight into your personality and your mood. It should be original….it should speak about you.
I’ve read and seen several stories about the fashion blogging industry being saturated. It’s true that there are a ton of people trying to find their spot in that world (including myself, to some degree), but it’s not overly saturated with fantastic content. Why? Because there’s a lot of the same ole stuff out there over and over. The bloggers that catch my eye and keep me following them are the ones that have a sweet spot. I want to see originality, even if it’s not my style. I may gain one tiny thing from a blogger that I decide to try, and it opens up a whole new world for me in terms of what I’m comfortable wearing.
Style can be influenced by instinct, culture, body type, Hollywood, icons, and many other things. When a certain style becomes vogue, I love to see how different people will interpret it. That’s where the originality can come into play. Show me something different!! Most importantly, just be yourself! So many times, especially as a teen, we try to follow others and aren’t completely comfortable in our own skin (or our clothes).
When I was younger, I was more conservative in my fashion tastes. I didn’t necessarily always want to be the first one out of the gate in a new style. As I became older, ( I’m only 16 so there’s still a curve ahead of me) I started finding what I like best for myself. I don’t feel like I’m really that bold when it comes to fashion, but I do think it’s fun to try new things and focus on what I like. It became less about what everyone else was wearing and more about having confidence to wear and try the things that I like. I think that principle applies to almost every area of our lives.
Style, like life, is ever changing. The only thing that stays the same is that everything will eventually change. I can’t predict today what I will like next year, but I can say that I hope to always stay true to myself. If we are all true to ourselves, then originality will be the outcome because we are all made so uniquely different and wonderful!
With all that being said, I’m going to focus on the written content of my blog for a bit! New elements and twists coming to The Gold Cobblestone. These ideas are taking time to develop and process. Hopefully, they will be out soon!
